BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two 16-year-olds accused of trying to carjack a woman at gunpoint are being held at the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators said the victim was carjacked Tuesday night about a block away from the Cocoa Beach Police Station.
Police said they caught the teens in less than an hour.
The Cape Canaveral woman gave police a good description of the two teenagers and so did a witness at the scene, police said.
After a brief search from the air and on the ground, officers found Joel Boyd-Pajotte and Andrew Atnip just walking down the street.
Police collected evidence at the scene but said they have not yet found the firearm the teenagers used.
Police commended the victim for keeping a cool head and getting away before anyone got hurt.
“They pointed the gun at her, and she reacted. She got away,” said Sgt. Manny Hernandez. “They tried to get her out of the car, and then they demanded that she get out of the car.”
Police said the situation could have gone bad in so many ways.
