MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning of a 22-year-old man in Ocala.
Deputies responded to a reported drowning at Gator Joe’s Beach Bar and Grill.
When they arrived, they were told the 22-year-old had entered Lake Weir for a swim.
According to troopers, he became fatigued and went underwater. Some good Samaritans nearby entered the water, located him, and brought him back to shore.
Marion County Fire Rescue transported him to the hospital, where he later died due to the effects of the drowning.
