ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 22-year-old man was shot to death Friday afternoon inside a food mart on South Ivey Lane in Orange County, deputies said.
The victim, identified as Antonio Smith, was inside the store when a masked gunman opened fire, officials said.
Shortly afterward, investigators reported finding a car on fire about two blocks away and believe that it was the vehicle that the accused shooter was driving.
It is believed Smith was targeted, investigators said.
"This is an individual who did not care at all," Orange County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Angela Nieves said. "(He) obviously committed a homicide and did not care about the community that he was committing it in."
A woman who lives near the shooting scene told Channel 9 that she knew the victim and couldn't believe what had just happened.
"He didn't deserve to die like that," she said. "That's a cold-hearted person to just shoot up someone and kill them.
"Ya'll, we need to stop, like, for real, we need to stop this in Orlando."
