ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Three teenagers have been arrested after investigators determined they fired multiple rounds from a handgun into a home in Ormond Beach, police said.
The arrests were made on Labor Day, following an investigation by the Ormond Beach Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Woodmere Circle at about 4:07 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence that the home had been fired upon.
Police said investigators found bullet holes and numerous spent shell casings along the roadway.
Detectives interviewed the person who reported the shooting as well as nearby residents.
During the investigation, police learned that the reporting party’s child had been involved in a drug-related incident with the juveniles who allegedly fired at the residence.
Investigators eventually identified and located a 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds in connection with the shooting.
All three were charged with felonies, including shooting into a building and aggravated assault.
Police said there is no active threat to the community and that all parties involved have been accounted for.
Officials said because the suspects are juveniles, additional information about the case may be limited.
