4 children killed in Pensacola house fire

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The children, boys ages 11 and 5 and girls ages 3 and 11 months, were not able to escape their home in the 2500 block of North Baylen Street.

The children’s mother and a 14-year-old girl got away from the fire and were not injured.

Emergency crews on the scene at 5:37 a.m. “attacked the fire extremely aggressively” but were not able to get to the trapped children in time, a release from the Escambia County Board of Commissioners said.

The home was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

The American Red Cross and TIPS are assisting the family.

The state fire marshal is investigating the blaze.
