ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department is investigating after a retired officer was shot to death overnight.
Officials said retired Orlando Officer Dennis Turner was shot around 6:58 p.m. Thursday outside of a home on Kozart Street.
Turner was found on the ground and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the suspected shooter, Jeffery London, fled the scene and was later arrested.
Investigators said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a “family dispute.”
Turner retired from the Orlando Police Department in 2018 after serving the City of Orlando for 23 years as an officer.
London has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
