WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — AdventHealth Winter Garden will officially open its new labor and delivery unit, known as The Baby Place, on Aug. 24.
More than 6,000 babies are born to families in West Orange and South Lake counties each year. However, according to data from the state Agency for Health Care Administration, the majority of those deliveries currently occur outside the immediate area.
The new maternity facility features nine labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, 10 postpartum beds, and two dedicated cesarean section operating rooms. Hospital officials have also designated space for a future Level II neonatal intensive care unit to serve newborns requiring specialized care.
Aimee Keller-Pickford serves as chief executive officer of AdventHealth Winter Garden. “Welcoming a baby is one of life’s most meaningful moments, and families deserve to feel supported, confident, and cared for throughout the experience,” Keller-Pickford said. “Bringing labor and delivery to our Winter Garden campus means families can receive compassionate, coordinated care with experienced teams by their side, while staying connected to the people and support systems that matter most.”
The opening of labor and delivery care is part of a broader facility expansion at AdventHealth Winter Garden. The project includes 40 progressive care beds for patients needing a higher level of medical monitoring, as well as additional operating room capacity for surgical procedures.
