Aerial spraying resumes in Apopka and Pine Hills to fight dengue fever

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Mosquito Control is resuming aerial spraying over parts of Apopka and Pine Hills as officials work to prevent further transmission of dengue fever.

County officials said aerial treatments were scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, with another round planned for Saturday, Oct. 24.

Residents in and around the treatment areas may see aircraft flying at low altitudes and making turns while crews conduct the treatments, according to the county.

Orange County said treatment areas include portions of central and south Apopka, Paradise Heights and areas north of Lake Apopka. In Pine Hills, spraying includes neighborhoods near West Colonial Drive, North Pine Hills Road and West Washington Street, as well as the Bel-Aire Woods and Orlo Vista communities.

The county said the spraying is intended to reduce mosquito populations and prevent further transmission of dengue fever.

County officials said residents do not need to take additional precautions for pets, livestock or gardens during the treatments.
