DELTONA, Fla.,None — A worldwide effort is underway to save a Deltona dog named Snoopy from being euthanized.
Snoopy is a pit bull mix. His owner said he was on a leash during a walk a few weeks back when a smaller dog got away from its owner and attacked.
"A jack russell come running across the street and attacked Snoopy. And it was on," said Snoopy's owner, Bob Johnson.
The two dogs bit each other several times.

The fight was a first offense for the dog that attacked Snoopy. Its owner was cited for a leash violation and allowed to take his dog home.
"Another dog attacked him and they're going to pick him up. I mean it seems ridiculous," said Johnson.
But because Snoopy was labeled a "dangerous dog" for an attack on a different dog and owner in 2007, he was required by state law to have a muzzle on.
He wasn't wearing a muzzle on the night of the attack and now he's being held by animal control in the Halifax Humane Society.
“How do you put a dog down because he didn't have a muzzle on? That should be me. That's my fault. Not his fault. Fine me,” said Johnson.
Johnson adopted Snoopy as a puppy six years ago.
"He's like one of my children," said Johnson. "It's just him and me living here."
A Deltona judge will decide on January 25 if Snoopy will be euthanized.
More than 14,000 people have signed an online petition to save him.
