INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla. — An elderly woman and her husband were found shot to death inside their Indian Harbour Beach home Thursday after an anonymous 911 call, police said.
Investigators said someone called 911 asking to do a welfare check on the couple’s Bluewater Drive home and quickly hung up.
“We got a call that just said, ‘Do a wellness check,’ and then hung up,” Indian Harbour Beach Police Lt. Matthew Jankowski said. “Upon the officer’s arrival, the front door was ajar.”
When officers arrived at the home, they found the woman shot to death inside and her husband with a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside, the Indian Harbour Beach Police Department said.
While the department has not determined the deaths to be a murder-suicide, investigators said they were not pursuing any other suspects in the death.
Resident Alan Mosh was shocked by the discovery of the couple’s bodies.
“I came by earlier on my bike and I was coming back from the store and I saw the yellow, you know, (police tape) all around the house and I said, ‘They would put (police tape) there if it wasn’t something bad.”
Police have not identified the couple and no other information on the shootings was immediately released.
