TEQUESTA, Fla. — The father of one of the missing Florida teen boaters announced on his foundation's Facebook page Wednesday that the iPhone, belonging to his son, could not be restored by Apple.
Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen, both 14 years old, have been missing since July.
Austin's phone was recovered March 18 with the boat that carried the teens out to sea. The family sent the iPhone to Apple in the hopes it could be restored and information recovered.

Blu Stephanos, Austin's father, thanked Apple and said the fact the phone can no longer function doesn’t diminish its value as a “cherished memory of (their) beloved son.”
