Armed beach bum bandit hits Melbourne CVS, police say

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Police in Melbourne were on the lookout Wednesday for an armed robber they said looked like he’d just come off the beach.

The man walked into a CVS Pharmacy at the corner of North Wickham Road and Parkway Drive wearing a T-shirt, colorful board shorts, flip flops and a hat at about 9 a.m. Saturday, the Melbourne Police Department said.

He walked up to the register, pointed an object under his shirt at the clerk and demanded cash from the register, investigators said.

He then fled through the parking lot, jumped into a white SUV and drove away, police said.

The vehicle is believed to be a Nissan Armada or Pathfinder.

Anyone with information on the individual or robbery is asked to contact Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
