DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. — Daytona Beach firefighters say an old YMCA building was intentionally set on fire.
According to the battalion chief, it appears multiple fires were set inside the building on Derbyshire Road.
The fires were started around 4 p.m. and took several hours for the Fire Department to put out.
The Islamic Center of Daytona Beach had recently acquired the building and had been conducting renovations.
Officials said they do not believe the arson was not motivated by the Islamic Center’s ownership because this was not the first time the building has been intentionally set on fire.
