ORLANDO, Fla. — A new solo exhibition by Winter Park artist Mimi Hwang will open in Orlando’s Milk District next month.
“Thresholds” opens to the public Saturday, Sept. 12, 7–9 p.m. at Meredith Sand Designs Studio & Gallery, located at 221 S. Bumby Ave., Suite 102.
The exhibition features abstract paintings exploring memory, identity, transformation, healing and belonging. Hwang’s work combines contemporary abstraction with influences from traditional Asian art and Chinese calligraphy.
Organizers said the paintings draw upon Hwang’s Asian heritage and Western upbringing while inviting viewers to form their own emotional interpretations.
Hwang has been a resident artist at McRae Art Studios since 2020. Her work has appeared at the Orlando Museum of Art, CityArts, Winter Park art festivals and Red Dot during Art Basel Miami. She also serves as president of the McRae Art Foundation.
“Thresholds” will remain on display through Oct. 16.
