Axiom Space announces Ax-2 Crew, second all-private mission to space station

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Axiom Space announced the crew assignments for its second mission to the International Space Station.

Axiom Space’s Ax-2 Crew is scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida in the spring of 2023.

The four-person multi-national team, comprised of Commander Peggy Whitson, Pilot John Shoffner, Mission Specialist Ali AlQarni, and Mission Specialist Rayyanah Barnawi, will be the first mission to include both private and foreign government astronauts.

The astronauts will spend ten days aboard the ISS and conduct science, outreach, and commercial activities.
