Thousands flock to Volusia County beaches for Fourth of July

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — If you’re headed to the beach for the Fourth of July weekend, be prepared for big crowds.

Channel 9′s Mike Springer said the beaches are expected to get busier throughout the day.

There will be a fireworks display at Daytona Beach on Monday evening.

Volusia County Beach Safety is flying the red flag to warn swimmers about possible rip currents.

Beach officials said they rescued nearly 40 people on Sunday.
