ORLANDO, Fla. — A bizarre social media trend involving AI-generated images and videos of a familiar children’s book character is making its way into Florida schools.
Law enforcement agencies around Florida are urging parents, students and staff not to engage with the posts.
The trend features AI-generated versions of the Cat in the Hat, sometimes depicted lurking outside schools or making threatening statements directed at school districts.
Authorities say they have not identified any credible threats connected to the social media posts. Still, deputies increased their presence at local school campuses as a precaution.
Officials are asking anyone who comes across the posts not to engage with them, share them or like them. Instead, people should report suspicious posts directly to law enforcement.
Parents and students are also encouraged to avoid amplifying the trend online, which can contribute to the spread of alarming or misleading content.
