CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Monday provided a look at the massive construction effort underway as Blue Origin expands its launch infrastructure on Florida’s Space Coast.

Roughly 450 truckloads of concrete, forming a line nearly three miles long, were involved in pouring part of the foundation for the company’s new launch pad at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The new Launch Complex 36B is being built to support Blue Origin’s larger New Glenn 9x4 rocket. The company says the new pad will serve as the operational home for that version of New Glenn.

Monday’s concrete work represents only about one-third of what will ultimately be needed for the project.

Construction is happening alongside work to rebuild Launch Complex 36A, which was damaged during a New Glenn test-fire explosion in May. That pad is intended to support the New Glenn 7x2 configuration.

The projects are part of a broader expansion by Blue Origin to increase the number of New Glenn missions launched from the Space Coast in the coming years.
