SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County Fire Rescue said crews recovered a body Monday evening after responding to a report of a person who went underwater at Wekiva Springs State Park.
Fire officials said the call came in around 7:13 p.m. at Wekiva Island Bar, located at 1014 Miami Springs Drive in Longwood.
According to officials, a witness reported seeing someone go underwater and not resurface before calling 911.
Rescue crews searched the area and located the person’s body. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The person’s identity has not been released.
Fire officials said there is no indication the incident involved an alligator attack.
Channel 9 has a crew headed to the scene and is working to gather additional information.
