Boil Water Notice issued in Edgewater after overnight water main break

Officials said the boil water advisory affects 105 service connections in Edgewater.

EDGEWATER, Fla. — The City of Edgewater has issued a boil water notice Friday after a major water main break.

City of Edgewater Public Works & Utilities crews worked through the overnight hours to repair a water main break in the 1500 block of South Ridgewood Avenue.

Crews responded shortly after midnight, mobilizing equipment and personnel to make repairs and address impacts to the local water system.

Following the repair, the city issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice affecting approximately 105 service connections.

The notice applies to customers in the following areas:

• Edgewater Drive

• Eaton Road

• Hill Street

• High Street

• Dayton Industrial Drive

• Bradford Road

• Coquina Drive

• 1502–1720 S. Ridgewood Avenue

• 10 Camino Real Drive at Eastern Shores Mobile Home Park

The city has begun required water-quality testing. If the test results meet all requirements, the Boil Water Notice could be lifted as early as Sunday.

Until the notice is officially rescinded, affected customers should boil water before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or other consumption purposes.

Public Works & Utilities crews are distributing door-hanger notices to affected homes and businesses.

Once testing confirms the water is safe and the notice is lifted, crews will return to the area to distribute additional notices informing customers that the advisory has been rescinded.

Customers in the affected area should continue following the Boil Water Notice until they receive official confirmation that it has been lifted.

In recent weeks, the city of Grveland and Lake Helen have also issued boil water notices after water main breaks and other issues.
