CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Blue Origin has broken ground on a new 120,000-square-foot Payload Processing Facility at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Launch Complex 36.
The construction comes as the aerospace company works toward a return to flight following an explosion at the launch pad and prepares for its next phase of growth on the Space Coast.
The facility is expected to expand Blue Origin’s launch capabilities and support more activity across the company’s local operations. That growth could also create a need for additional engineers, technicians and other support personnel.
The building will include:
Four large payload-processing bays.
Two encapsulation bays.
Four bays dedicated to multi-manifest processing.
A Blue Origin representative said the facility will enable the company to support multiple launch-related activities simultaneously.
“So, it enables more capability here on the Space Coast, and so that means then they’ll need more engineers and more technicians and personnel to support all of those launch pads and those launches that can have concurrent activities going on,” Platt said.
Blue Origin expects the new facility to open in early 2028.
