Florida’s Space Coast seeks to host the nation’s first U.S. Space Academy

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast is making it known that the organization is ready to help bring the nation’s first U.S. Space Academy to Central Florida.

The EDC sent a letter to NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman highlighting the region’s existing space industry, research institutions and universities, including Florida Tech, UCF and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

EDC President and CEO Lynda Weatherman says locating the academy here would give students access to internships, research and partnerships with the Space Coast’s established space industry.
