MELBOURNE, Fla. — Relentless Equestrian Foundation is reporting severe flooding at its farm, saying pastures are underwater, fences are coming down and there is virtually no dry ground left for its horses and rescued animals.
“We are underwater. And the rain just won’t stop,” the foundation wrote in a social media post describing the damage and its efforts to keep animals safe.
The foundation said its animals are standing in floodwater as workers try to protect them, keep hay and feed dry, and preserve what remains of the property’s infrastructure.
“We’re exhausted. We’re overwhelmed. And the rain keeps coming,” the post reads.
Damage assessment still unfolding
The foundation said it has not yet determined the full extent of the damage or what recovery will require. Its immediate focus remains caring for the animals while assessing what can be saved and what may need to be rebuilt.
“But the reality is that the damage is growing, and we know we’re facing a massive undertaking to put this place back together,” the foundation wrote.
The post did not specify whether any animals had been injured or relocated, and it did not provide a damage estimate.
Sanctuary asks for community support
The foundation described the farm as more than a home for rescued animals. It said the property also provides a place for children to find connection, veterans to find community and others to feel a sense of belonging.
“And right now, that place is literally underwater,” the foundation wrote.
The organization asked supporters to keep its animals and caregivers in their thoughts, saying community support will be important in the days ahead. The supplied post did not identify specific donation needs or volunteer instructions.
“We’ve poured our hearts into building this place, and watching it disappear beneath the water is devastating.”
