The production is part of a new national tour following the musical’s 50th anniversary tour and recent Broadway revival.

The original Broadway production opened in 1975 and won seven Tony Awards, including best musical and best original score. A 1978 film adaptation starred Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor, Lena Horne and others.
