Charles told Channel 9 that detectives knocked on this door around 2:30 a.m. Saturday following the shooting in the 1600 block of Holden Avenue.

“Shaniya got shot once in the chest and she didn’t make it, I’m sorry, and those are the only words that I have from the detective,” Charles said.

Charles said Shaniya spent Christmas with his family, and three days later around 4:30 p.m., the 17-year-old left and did not say where she was going.
