ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is in for another hot and humid day Friday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the low to mid 90s.
The heat will feel even more intense, with heat index values expected to reach around 100 to 102 degrees in parts of the area.
Storms will develop through the afternoon and continue into the evening, with a 50% chance of rain across Central Florida. The greatest concentration of storms is expected along and near the I-4 corridor.
The storms could pack a punch, with frequent lightning, gusty winds of up to 55 mph and locally heavy rainfall among the main threats.
Downpours could also lead to temporary flooding, especially in urban areas and locations with poor drainage. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and reduced visibility when storms move through.
As always, remember to seek shelter indoors when thunder is heard, and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
The heat and humidity will remain a factor throughout the day, with storms offering only temporary relief as they move across the region.
