Child porn found on worker's computer at Lakeland business, police say

LAKELAND, Fla. — A Valrico man was arrested and charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography, Lakeland police said.

The investigation into George Tay, 55, began in mid-April after at least 100 images and video of child pornography were found on his work computer at BrightVolt, police said.

A BrightVolt information technology manager was troubleshooting an issue on Tay’s computer, police said.

The police were contacted, and Tay was placed on administrative leave April 19 during the investigation.

Police said Tay went to his home in Valrico and left a note for his wife stating he was sorry and gave her instructions on how to move forward. His wife called the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and they found Tay had purchased a shotgun, investigations said.

Tay was later found at his home April 20 and taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

He’s currently in custody at the Hillsborough County Jail.
