OVIEDO, Fla. — The creator of the television series “The Chosen” is coming to Central Florida for a fundraising event benefiting local seniors.
Dallas Jenkins, the show’s creator, director and co-writer, will speak Oct. 3 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo.
Jenkins will present “Loaves & Fish: From Failure to ‘The Chosen,’” sharing the challenges, faith and perseverance behind the creation of the series.
“The Chosen” is a historical drama based on the life of Jesus Christ and told through the perspectives of people who knew him. Event organizers say the series has reached more than 250 million viewers since premiering in 2019.
Supporting Central Florida seniors
Proceeds from the event will benefit Lutheran Haven Retirement Center’s Benevolent Care Ministry.
The ministry provides financial assistance to residents who need additional support during retirement, including former pastors, missionaries, church workers and teachers.
Lutheran Haven was founded in 1948 and operates a retirement community next to St. Luke’s in Oviedo.
“We are honored to host Dallas Jenkins and learn about his journey in creating one of the most popular Christian programs in history,” Lutheran Haven CEO Jerry Griffing said. “Together, we will be taken behind the scenes as he details how God continues to work through him to share this important story with viewers.”
