GROVELAND, Fla. — Council members with the city of Groveland voted 3 to 2 Monday night to formally fire city manager Redmond Jones.
Council members decided in September to put Jones on administrative leave after he was accused of trying to cover up allegations of misuse of a city credit card by former Groveland Police Chief Melvin Tenneyson.
When the issue came to light, the mayor of Groveland told Channel 9's Angela Jacobs Jones tried to sweep accusations leveled at Tenneyson's under the rug.
Jones filed a lawsuit seeking more than $15,000 in damages in what he calls a wrongful termination.
