Complaint claims Orange Co. teacher flipped desks, insulted students

WFTV uncovered an Orange County teacher could lose her job and even her license to teach for her alleged outbursts in the classroom.

Susie Hafford is a teacher at McCoy Elementary on South Semoran Boulevard in Orlando.

According to a recently filed administrative complaint, the fifth-grade teacher flipped desks and insulted her students and even called some stupid.

Parents couldn't believe the accusations.

"You shouldn't be doing that to little kids. That's a teacher, that's a role model," said parent Marcus Ross.

The teacher's behavior was first reported by the school district to state officials in 2010.

And officials said more allegations surfaced last year, but for some reason Hafford kept her job.

"That's probably not the job for her. If she has anger problems like that, crossing the line like that," said Ross.

According to the complaint, the ESOL teacher referred to some of her students as "stupid" or "deaf."

But the real trouble came when the teacher "pushed" and flipped her students' desks, then made the children pick up the mess, according to the complaint.

The department of education is taking action against the teacher. The punishment could range anywhere from a written reprimand, to losing her job and her teaching license for up to 10 years.

District officials said Hafford has been with the district for 14 years.

WFTV is still waiting to hear back from them about what action they took when they found out about these incidents and what other complaints they've received.

Hafford declined WFTV's request for an interview.
