ORLANDO, Fla. — A Confederate statue removed from Lake Eola Park now stands at the city of Orlando’s Greenwood Cemetery.

A fence still surrounds the statue Wednesday at the cemetery.
The statue faces north toward Orlando Executive Airport so it won't offend nearby neighbors.
Johnny Reb was removed from Lake Eola in July after nationwide protests called into question where Confederate statues should be on public property, calling them a symbol of racism.

Before the statue was moved to Lake Eola in 1917, it was at East Central Boulevard and South Magnolia Avenue.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer selected the statue be moved to section where Confederate veterans are buried.

A time capsule was found in the disassembled statue. It was found to contain money, flags and newspaper articles when it was opened in August.
The city estimated the cost of refurbishing the statue at $120,000.
