Sex offender arrested, accused of impregnating Orange County teen

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange county deputies arrested a convicted sex offender they said got a 15-year-old pregnant.

Deputies said 52-year-old Jose DeJesus is behind bars on charges of preying on the teenage girl he met at a Winn-Dixie in September.

According to court documents, he met the 15-year-old at the Orange County Winn Dixie, and then lured her to his tent, where they had sex.

DeJesus was living in a homeless camp in a wooded area near Curry Ford and Goldenrod roads, authorities said.

Orange County investigators said the victim was suicidal and had to be hospitalized after learning she was pregnant.

Deputies said the victim's sister reported the incident, and the victim told deputies that she had sex with DeJesus.

"What's wrong with Florida today? They don't watch over convicted felons," said resident Fanasha Acevedo.

In 1988, DeJesus was found guilty on sexual battery charges in Miami and spent 10 years in prison.
