ORLANDO, Fla. — A Burmese python hitched a ride on a boat that was heading to Orlando for repairs, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported.
The boat traveled from Plantation Island in Everglades City to Orlando.

When the couple who owns the boat pulled the deck back to see the engine, they found the 8-foot snake slithering inside.
The boat owners humanely killed the animal and reported it to FWC, a report said.

Officers said any resident who spots an invasive species, such as Burmese pythons, should call the Exotic Species Hotline.
The removal of the snake qualified the couple for a chance to win a prize through the Python Pickup Program.
