Darden lays off employees at Orlando headquarters

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando-based Darden Restaurants will lay off 30 workers at its headquarters.

Officials said notices went out to employees on Monday.

Darden is the parent company of Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse.

Company spokesman Rich Jeffers said the cuts came in several departments and will give Darden a "flatter support structure."

The company is also realigning positions in employee relations, guest relations and talent acquisition from corporate into individual restaurant brands.

In November, Darden laid off 60 employees. Jeffers said those moves eliminated layers of management and put executives closer to the restaurants and ground-level employees.
