DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Daytona Beach farmers market has been part of downtown for more than 40 years.
Over the years, it has seen the number of vendors and customers dwindle.

Some people blame the decline on the move from its old location on City Island to Magnolia street; others say the COVID-19 pandemic is to blame.

Residents like Jenny Nazak said if the market were to go away, she would have to walk or drive several miles.
“It’s a place where I can walk to or ride my bike to and get almost all of my groceries,” she said.

For people like Brady Privot who runs Farm to Fit, the farmers market is an essential part of the community.
“There’s a lot of farms in Volusia county and Florida is a huge agricultural area,” Privot said.
That is why Daytona’s downtown development authority will hold a special meeting to discuss the market’s future.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, September 22 at City Hall at 5 p.m.
