BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly crash near Melbourne impacted traffic on Interstate 95.
12:05 PM Update:
A deadly accident took place on northbound I-95 near mile marker 191 at Wickham Road, involving a 2017 Dodge Journey and a 2015 Mack semi tractor-trailer.
As per a Florida Highway Patrol report, the semi-truck was stationary in traffic when the Dodge Journey, in the inside lane, failed to brake in time and rear-ended the tractor-trailer.
The Dodge Journey driver was declared deceased at the scene. One passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center for care. The semi-truck driver was unharmed and stayed at the scene after the crash.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

A Florida Department of Transportation traffic camera shows one lane of I-95 open in this area. Northbound traffic backups remain significant around Wickham Road in south Brevard County.

A deadly crash near Melbourne has forced the closure of a stretch of Interstate 95.
Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-95 near Wickham Road.
That’s in the area of mile marker 191.
State troopers tell Channel 9 the crash involved a Dodge Journey SUV and a Mack semi-truck.
The driver of the SUV died on scene, FHP said.
Troopers say there is roadblock for all northbound lanes of I-95 in this area. Traffic is being diverted off at Wickham Road.
The crash remains under investigation.
