Troopers search for possible hit-and-run driver after man killed on I-4 in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash in Osceola County.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on westbound I-4 near the exit for US-192.

Troopers said the driver of a 2024 Kia Forte lost control on the exit ramp, struck a shoulder guardrail, became airborne, struck a tree, and landed upside down next to a barrier wall.

After the crash, the driver and passenger exited the vehicle.

The driver ran to a nearby hotel for help and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators later discovered that the passenger involved in the crash was found dead almost half a mile from the original crash scene.

The passenger, a 23-year-old man from Clarksville, Tennessee, was struck by a van driver while crossing the westbound lanes of I-4.

Troopers said the Tennessee man was possibly struck by two vehicles. One driver stopped, but another may have also hit the victim and left the scene.

Anyone with information about this deadly crash is asked to call Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS(8477).
