MELBOURNE, Fla. — Officers with the Melbourne Police Department are investigating the death of a 3-month-old infant Sunday afternoon.
Police said they were called to a home on Nottingham Road on reports of an infant not breathing.
The mother told police that she and the baby boy were sleeping in the same bed, and when she woke up, the infant wasn’t breathing, police said.
The death is under investigation.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is also investigating. The children remain in the mother's care, police said.
