Denise Cook faces an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge

DeLand, Fla. — DeLand police have arrested a woman accused of aggravated battery involving a knife after officers searched a wooded area Monday.

Denise Cook, 41, was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said.

The arrest follows Monday’s search near International Speedway Boulevard and Spring Garden Avenue, where police said Cook left the scene on foot and entered nearby woods.

Officers searched the area with assistance from the Air One helicopter.

An adult man was transported by Volusia County EMS for medical attention. Police did not provide an update on his condition or additional details about what led to the altercation.

Cook was being held without bond at the time of the department’s Tuesday announcement.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact DeLand police at 386-626-1400.
