OVIEDO, Fla.,None — An Oviedo dentist is working to spread some holiday cheer by providing free dental care to those in need on Friday.
Seventy-five people who show up to the Your Oviedo Dentist office on Alafaya Woods Boulevard are being treated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Dozens of people are waiting in line, and one man even arrived around 5 p.m. Thursday.
People without insurance or enough money for their own dentist waited in line Friday to take a seat in Dr. Angel Lopez's chair.
Two years ago, Lopez heard about Dentistry From The Heart, a Florida nonprofit that provides free dental work for people in need.
This year, Lopez and his staff agreed it was time for them to get involved, and he said he's glad they did.
"I don't have words to describe how I feel," he said. "It's awesome."
Jennifer Heald, who drove all the way from Tampa Bay, said she's thankful that Lopez took care of one of her wisdom teeth that has been driving her crazy for two years.
"It is worse than having a baby," said Heald.
Even though helping all 75 patients will cost around $25,000, Lopez said he feels great.
"I will do it again every single year," he said.
Lopez also has three other dentists helping see all these people.
They said they will be working until 7 p.m. or until all the 75 patients have been helped.
