ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were killed and another person was injured in a shooting in Orange County Friday night.
Deputies said someone opened fire on Bancroft Boulevard in a subdivision in Wedgefield about 8 p.m., killing Juan Caban-Serrano and Alexander Arana.
The owner of the barn property, Edwin Vasquez, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Crime scene investigators marked evidence outside a horse barn.
Investigators said they are looking for a black Kia that had three men inside.
“When we arrived on scene, we found we had two persons deceased. Both are males. The suspects were gone on arrival,” said Jeff Williamson, with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies blocked off the 3600 block of Bancroft Boulevard near Paddock Street for several hours as they searched for suspects.
“It is kind of frightening. You think about your community and family and stuff, and then you have to worry about incidents like this happening,” said resident Steve Worms. “You can’t get any answers about what’s going on.”
Vazquez and his family live near the stable where they train Paso Fino horses.
"No idea who would want to target them. Edwin was in the army. A sergeant major and a really respectable guy," said relative Andrew Brahim.
His relatives said there’s never been trouble in the area before.
While the suspects remain at large, investigators believe nearby residents are safe because they said the shooting was an isolated incident.
