Deputies: Lake Mary bank robber may have struck twice

LAKE MARY, Fla. — Seminole County deputies are investigating a robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in Lake Mary.

Deputies said a man walked into the bank on Lake Mary Boulevard about 2:45 p.m. demanding cash from the teller. They said the man implied he had a weapon.

The teller gave the robber money and he fled the scene on foot, deputies said.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the bank and a Publix plaza, but never found the man. They released a photo from the surveillance video.

Investigators said they’re looking into a possible link to a robbery in Osceola County, after Channel 9 reporter Jeff Levkulich told authorities the picture looked similar to a picture released of another robber.

Osceola County deputies said a man robbed a Regions Bank in Champion’s Gate last Wednesday.

Deputies believe it could be the same man who robbed the Wells Fargo.

In the Osceola County robbery, authorities said the man implied he had a weapon, but the teller never saw one.

The robber grabbed the cash and ran into a busy parking lot.
