LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is facing charges after deputies said she showed up to Grassy Lake Elementary School drunk to pick up her children Wednesday afternoon.
“Before you started drinking, you know your kids were at school and you know you have to get them, so why would you even drink?” said parent Nadine Archer.
Investigators said Angela Woodward was in the car line when several other parents noticed something was wrong, so they alerted administrators, who called 911.
“Parents said she was slurring her words and it seemed like she was intoxicated. So I went out there and spoke to her, and I witnessed the exact same thing,” the caller told the 911 dispatcher.
The school held up dismissal until deputies arrived.
Once on the scene, they said Woodward was in bad shape and could hardly walk.
They said when she blew on the breathalyzer, she was more than four times the legal limit.
Channel 9 learned Woodward was also arrested last summer.
According to court documents, she was sentenced to a year of probation and her license was suspended for one year.
Parents said they’re glad the school reacted before it was too late.
“I’m really proud of my school for really taking care of that,” said parent Jessica Foster.
