Local college student raped at apartment complex, authorities say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Detectives have been extremely tight-lipped about a reported home invasion and rape inside an apartment complex in Orange County.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said the victim, who is a local area college student, called 911 about 4:45 a.m. to report the attack at the Auvers Village apartment complex on Semoran and Auvers boulevards.

The woman, deputies said, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office won't say whether the victim knew the attacker or if it was a random crime. During their investigation, their dive team put a boat into a pond near the scene, but there's no word on whether any evidence was found.

Deputies said the man fled the scene before they arrived. He is described as a black man with a medium build. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

Most students living in the complex attend the University of Central Florida or Full Sail University, authorities said.
