OAK HILL, Fla. — A 37-year-old woman fatally stabbed her 50-year-old boyfriend Friday morning outside a seafood restaurant on the Indian River in Oak Hill, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said they were called at about 7:30 a.m. to Goodrich Seafood Restaurant and Oyster House on River Road after Angela Compton stabbed Neal Goodrich Jr. several times in the torso with a letter opener.

Investigators said a surveillance camera recorded the stabbing.

"The video shows Compton and Goodrich arrive at Goodrich Seafood in separate vehicles, approach a boat at the water's edge near the restaurant and then engage in a physical altercation," said Andrew Gant, a Sheriff's Office spokesman. "After several seconds, Compton appears to stab Goodrich multiple times."

Deputies said they interviewed Compton and a child who was at the scene and determined that Compton threw the letter opener into the water.

Investigators said Goodrich got into a vehicle with another person and was taken to AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, where he died.

Goodrich's cousin, Arnold Vann, said that the Goodrich family is full of commercial fisherman, and that Goodrich and Compton met at a family-owned business.

Vann said his cousin never deserved what happened to him.

"He was the wrong guy for this all the way around," said Vann. "He was so nice."

Compton was booked into the Volusia County Jail on charges of second-degree murder. She is being held without bail.
