Desks ‘too close' forces some Orange County students to retake AP exams

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday, many students at Lake Nona High School found out they would have to retake the Advanced Placement Exams.

The company behind the exams told Eyewitness News the students who took the exams in five subjects sat too close together. It impacts students who took chemistry, physics, environmental science, French and Spanish.

The students were supposed to sit five feet away from one another. The students were sitting four feet from each other.

The Orange County School District said 209 students will have to retake the tests.

For high school students, Advance Placement Tests are serious business, and passing them can mean college credit.

A few weeks ago, Eyewitness News reported 114 students had to retake their AP psychology exam because College Board, the company that makes the test, said the students were sitting too close together.

College Board said in a statement, "We're working with school officials to provide affected students with the opportunity to retest, likely this month. We thank students and families for their patience and understanding."

The AP tests could be next Tuesday.
