ORLANDO, Fla. — Diesel prices have reached a record high, with the national average now topping $6 a gallon, according to AAA.
In Florida, the average price for a gallon of diesel is now $6.06, AAA reports. That’s an increase of 14 cents from just one day ago.
Compared with this time last year, Florida drivers are paying $2.47 more per gallon for diesel.
The price is even higher in the Orlando area.
AAA says diesel is averaging about 15 cents more than the statewide average, putting local prices at roughly $6.21 per gallon.
The sharp increase is adding to costs for drivers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel, including trucking and transportation companies.
