LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Walt Disney World is giving a closer look at the work happening behind the scenes to care for animals across its parks.
Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team hosted a two-day media event Monday and Tuesday featuring animal care, veterinary medicine and conservation work across the resort.
Tuesday’s programming highlighted elephants, with members of Disney’s animal care team offering a closer look at their work.
The event also comes during a week focused on World Gorilla Day.
New silverback gorilla at Animal Kingdom
On Monday, Disney gave media an up-close look at Bakari, the new silverback gorilla at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney experts discussed his introduction to the troop and what his arrival could mean for the future of the gorilla family.
The first day also included a panel with several Disney animal experts, including Dr. Scott Terrell, the new vice president of Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team.
The panel focused on animal care, conservation, veterinary medicine and other work happening behind the scenes at Walt Disney World.
