MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A dog is safe after falling into a sinkhole in the front yard of a home in northwest Marion County Tuesday morning, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were called to the home at about 11:42 a.m. after the small dog fell into a ground opening measuring approximately 4 feet wide and several feet deep.
Crews from Golden Ocala Station #20 arrived at 11:49 a.m. and carefully worked to reach the dog inside the sinkhole.
Firefighters successfully rescued the dog, which was reunited with its owner at about 12:30 p.m.
Marion County Fire Rescue said no injuries were reported among the dog, the homeowner or firefighters.
