Elementary school worker accused of touching young students inappropriately

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee police have arrested an elementary school cafeteria worker accused of touching  a student inappropriately.

Police said the mother of a 9-year-old student told them that her daughter said a school staff member had touched her inappropriately when he hugged her.

According to police, the girl identified the worker as 30-year-old Jonathan Caraballo, aka Mr. C, a part-time cafeteria monitor at Highlands Elementary School.

The girl said Caraballo touched her chest over her clothing while they were in the cafeteria together. She said Caraballo's stares often made her uncomfortable and that she thought he was looking at her vaginal area when she was sitting.

She went on to say she also saw Caraballo touch another girl's back and buttocks over her clothing as well. Police said that girl told them Caraballo intentionally touched her chest as he handed her a spoon.

Police said the girl told them she felt uncomfortable when Caraballo would hug her.

Investigators contacted the Florida Department of Children and Families to do an interview with the girl.

Parents who spoke with Channel 9 were shocked to hear of the situation.

"Its' very unnerving to hear," said parent Danielle Littleton. "It's disgusting, especially being around kids every day. It's not the right place to be having problems like that."

When police interviewed Caraballo, he told them "that he does not have a good memory" and "forgets things at times."

He did admit "to touching another student on her breast" about two-three months ago when he claims he "accidentally grabbed her breast."

Police are still trying to contact that third potential victim.

Caraballo was arrested and charged with lewd molestation and battery. He's being held in the Osceola County Jail on no bond.

Kissimmee police detectives are asking any additional victims to contact the Kissimmee Police Department's Major Crimes Unit at 407-846-3333.
